I've spent most of my working career in marketing mostly for corporate companies, complemented by event management and hospitality. Exercising the creative brain and crafting ideas to attract sales has always been my passion, but then my husband (Tainui & Kahungunu) and I started up a Māori food truck and catering business called Pūhā & Pākehā in 2014 (so I also have personal experience of the kaupapa of Māori business) - and when it came to do the marketing I found it a chore and had little time to dedicate to it!

When you're building a business from the ground up there are so many things to do running the everyday parts of the business, you don't always do everything you know you should. Marketing was often on that long list of things that deserved my full attention (usually late at night), and if I took my eye off the ball with it, the business suffered. Even though I was rich in marketing skills, I was time poor and I thought how do other business owners manage? There had to be a better way.
